Ok, seriously. I got a little robbed on these nightstands. They were posted at $30/pair, solid wood, nothing wrong with them. UM NO. These were particle board and in HORRIBLE shape. I was mad, but it turned out the girl selling these had to sell everything she owned and move out of her apartment due to some financial troubles. She was selling her furniture, her microwave, everything. So, I caved and gave her the 30 bucks.
Then I got home and fumed and kicked myself and left these stinky things to sit in the garage for months. Seriously, HOW was I going to fix that top?!?
Eventually, I got my life together and made myself work on them. I had already sunk money in them, I might as well get something bloggable out of it, if not a profit, right?
So I painted the base with General Finishes Patina Green and distressed it using a Clorox wipe (since I couldn’t sand due to the material). But what was I going to do about the top?! Suddenly it dawned on me that I could just take the top off and make a new wood top (stained with General Finishes Gel Stain in Java). TA-DA!
This was a serious transformation. They were in really crappy shape, but I am really happy with how they turned out!
