In an earlier post, I let yall know that I had been working on a mid-century modern coffee table that, I swear, was a torture device sent straight from Hell.
I also mentioned that, although the table photographed well, it did have some serious imperfections around the top of the table due to my own mistakes. I didn’t think I was going to be able to even give the table away. So, I figured I’d take a chance and I detached the top and went for a more rustic meets modern look. I used General Finishes Gel Stain in Java on these boards. I’m so much happier with the finished product now!
It’s still not quiteeee perfect, but it’s a lot closer. Plus, the rustic top is more forgiving and much more eye catching, in my opinion.
I’ve been building up some inventory lately, partially because I gave up Facebook for Lent and that’s where I sell a lot of pieces. But, I’ve also gotten tired of the drama and upkeep of Facebook swap groups and posting on Craigslist. I think I’m going to do a sale at a local flea market coming up and see how that goes. (Now that the weather is nice!) So, if you’re in Charleston and want to check out my work in person, just hit me up in the comments! 🙂
