I have been seriously bad about getting my posts up on the weekend! Unfortunately, this weekend it wasn’t because I was out of town or doing something fun, it was because I was sick. So, I spent most of Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the couch.
But, these mirrors (from an awesome Junior League rummage sale fundraiser) were the perfect project to do inside on a rainy, cold day once I was feeling a little bit better. (and getting the itch to paint!)
I painted both with a white DIY chalk paint in Behr Creme Brulee. Then, on both mirrors, covered the Creme Brulee with DIY chalk paint in Behr Intense Teal. (I’ve used this color a couple of times now- it’s definitely a fave!)
The tall wood mirror got some sanding, distressing with fine grit sandpaper and then polished up with some danish oil.
Here she is after:
The smaller mirror was begging for all of those swirly details to be brought out so, I went into all the crevices with
expensive boutique dark wax my husband’s black shoe polish! It worked like a charm! I just rubbed a generous amount into the grooves, a couple of inches at a time, and then wiped it off. I think it really makes it charming and gives it an antique look! I’ll definitely be using shoe polish on furniture pieces in the future!
These mirrors are posted for sale! They’ll think that you are the fairest of them all- promise! 😉
