After a year of wanting to paint our downstairs, we finally pulled the trigger! No, we haven’t painted- we made an appointment to have someone else do it instead. I know that’s kind of lame, especially on a blog about DIY projects, but I think we made the right choice for us. We are painting our whole open floor plan downstairs, which means cutting around 3 doors, 3 windows, all the cabinets and getting up to the 9 foot ceilings. Considering we tend to not be the most detail oriented, patient people, I could see all the paint ending up on our hardwood floors and granite countertops. Not to mention that we may have killed each other in the process. Nope, we are going to save a week’s worth of work for us and have someone else do it. They are looking for work, I’m looking to not do the work- it’s a win win, really.
So, the hardest part is just picking a darn paint color!
Here are some rooms that I am getting inspiration from, paint color-wise:
Here are the bajillion samples we’ve put up on the walls! We definitely want a gray that feels warmer, and I want some drama, so I don’t want it to be too light and neutral. (We painted big sheets of poster board to get a better idea of what the color would look like, without having actual paint splotches all over the wall.)
Whadya think? Any favorites?
